Mission Statement
Our Mission is to encourage and support individuals with developmental disabilities, enhance their ability to live, learn, and work in an independent and inclusive manner, and to educate the community about their contributions and capabilities.
Our Purpose
The purpose of Mountain Valley Developmental Services is to provide persons served and their families with supports that will promote skill acquisition, independence and inclusion within the community. To fulfill this purpose, the organization is entrusted with the administration of public funds that are intended specifically to assist persons with developmental disabilities and their families. In order to assure maximum fulfillment of the organization’s mission and its responsibility to the public and its communities, all persons employed by the organization or otherwise in a position to exercise influence over policy development and operations are expected to adhere to following our code of ethics at all times.

Mountain Valley Developmental Services (MVDS) promotes a culture where its employees work in a place of well-being and where each employee strives to bring out the best in ourselves and others by:

Code of Ethics
Adopted by the Board of Directors March 17, 1999, amended May 2001, September 2014. MVDS’s purpose is to provide persons served and their families with supports that will promote skill acquisition, independence, and inclusion within the community. To fulfill this purpose, the organization is entrusted with the administration of public funds that are intended specifically to assist persons with developmental disabilities and their families. In order to assure maximum fulfillment of the organization’s mission and its responsibility to the public and its communities, all persons employed by the organization or otherwise in a position to exercise influence over Code development and operations are expected to adhere to the following principals of ethical conduct at all times.
In conjunction with his/her affiliation with MVDS, each person shall:
- Fulfill his/her responsibilities with integrity, compassion, and respect for individual differences and choice;
- Promote the provision of supports that meet the needs of each individual in a manner that is respectful, provided in an age-appropriate manner, promote choice, inclusion, growth and development;
- Respect the privacy of persons served and family members, and protect the right to confidentiality;
- Give preference to professional responsibility over any personal interests; Advocate for standards that promote quality outcomes for people served;
- Contribute ideas, findings, concepts, understanding, and knowledge to the provision of services and supports that directly benefit persons served;
- Encourage and advocate for the protection of the individual and the community of persons served against unethical and/or illegal practices or actions by other individuals or organizations engaged in or providing supports or services;
- Not discriminate because of race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual preference, handicap, or national origin or ancestry, and work to eliminate or prevent such discrimination in the provision of supports to persons served;
- Promote inclusion and equitable treatment of all people including those receiving supports, staff members, friends, family members and the public;
- Be a responsible steward of public and private funds;
- Conduct all business functions in a manner consistent with fair business practices;
- Represent the organization and people served in an accurate and factual manner in all activities including those related to marketing and public information;
- Be a responsible member of and contributor to the community;
- Be accountable for statements made with respect to individuals with disabilities and distinguish clearly, whenever appropriate, between statements and actions made as an individual and those made as a representative of MVDS.
